TG D71

The TG D71 is a flat boundary microphone that rests directly against a surface such as the inside of a kick drum, a cajón or the lid of a grand piano. It is a condenser design with a cardioid pattern, a frequency response of 25 Hz to 20 kHz and a maximum sound pressure level of 148 dB, which suits percussive sources with strong attacks.

The low-profile housing is built to be tough, and a rubberised underside keeps it from sliding once positioned. A mounting fixture on the underside allows longer-term or permanent installation. A red status LED lights up when phantom power is applied, showing the microphone is ready to use. Sound Channelling Technology shapes the polar pattern through acoustic labyrinths inside the capsule housing.

The microphone connects through a 3-pin XLR output and is supplied with a carrying bag. It is handcrafted at the maker's facility in Heilbronn, Germany.
