TG D70

The TG D70 is the second-generation dynamic kick drum microphone from beyerdynamic's TG series. Its hypercardioid pattern is intended to reject ambient noise and reduce feedback, which helps in loud stage settings. The capsule is a refined version of the company's M 88 design and is described as having a quick response and good impulse fidelity.

The capsule sits in an elastic suspension so that impacts from the floor or stage are not carried through the stand. The housing is die-cast zinc, and the short shaft takes up little space in front of the kick drum port. It can also be placed in front of the drum head on kicks with very small ports. Each unit is hand-built in Heilbronn, Germany.

The microphone is wired and connects through a 3-pin XLR. Close miking covers 20 Hz to 14.1 kHz, and distant miking at 1 m covers 40 Hz to 14.1 kHz. It is designed to be paired with the TG D71 for studio drum miking.
