M 201

The M 201 is a wired dynamic microphone from the M series. It has a hypercardioid pattern that favours sound from the front and reduces most signal from the sides and some from the back, which helps channel separation and lowers feedback risk in noisy rooms. The frequency response runs from 40 to 18,000 Hz and is described as natural and transparent.

Inside, a thin Hostaphan diaphragm gives good impulse response, and an integrated hum compensation coil reduces electromagnetic interference. The pencil-style body is compact and light, with a solid metal housing for studio and stage use. The diaphragm and grille are made in-house, and each microphone is measured individually, with a printout of its curve included.

It handles high sound pressure levels, so it suits close miking of snares and guitar amps. An optional wind shield can be used to reduce plosives for speech. The microphone connects through a 3-pin XLR output and is supplied in a hard case.
