The XENYX 1204USB is a compact analog mixer for live use and home recording. It has four onboard XENYX mic preamps, which are described as offering 130 dB of dynamic range and a bandwidth from below 10 Hz to well above 200 kHz. Channel EQs are based on British console circuitry.
Every mono channel carries a single-knob compressor, so dynamics can be controlled without separate outboard gear. This is aimed at entry-level users as well as experienced engineers, and works on both vocals and instruments.
A bidirectional stereo USB audio interface is built in. A single USB cable links the mixer to a PC or Mac, so any source connected to the mixer can be recorded straight to the computer's drive. Recording and editing software is supplied for building a home recording setup around the mixer.
