The X32 is a 40-input, 25-bus digital console built around 32 remotely programmable Midas-designed mic preamps. Its surface has 25 motorized 100 mm faders, 29 LCD scribble strips, a 7-inch TFT screen and a single channel strip covering preamp, EQ, dynamics, sends and panning. Scenes, snippets and a 500-entry cue list handle show recall, and 8 DCA groups and Sends on Fader support monitor and sub-mixing.
Processing includes more than 50 onboard effects, among them models of classic compressors, equalizers and reverbs, along with a 5-band multiband compressor, 31-band graphic EQs and a 100-band real-time analyzer. Gain split and remote head-amp control allow separate front-of-house and monitor trim.
A pre-installed X-USB card gives 32 x 32 channel USB 2.0 audio and MIDI, with Mackie Control and HUI control-surface modes for DAWs. Two AES50 ports support stage boxes such as the S16, and an Ultranet port feeds P16 personal monitor mixers. The expansion slot accepts optional FireWire/USB, ADAT, MADI and Dante cards. The console can be controlled over Ethernet from X32-Edit on computers and from iPad, iPhone and Android apps.
