The RD-6-SR is an analog drum machine that revives the sound of the TR-606 and adds a few modern features. It has eight drum voices, including open and closed hi-hats, clap, cymbal, low and high toms, snare and bass drum. The clap is modelled on the BR-110. Each voice has its own level knob for mixing.
A 16-step sequencer lets the player switch between 32 patterns in real time. Patterns can be chained into songs of up to 256 bars, which the maker gives as about eight and a half minutes. A distortion section based on the DS-1 is switched in with a dedicated switch and has amount and tone controls. The panel has 11 knobs and 26 buttons.
Connectivity includes individual voice outputs, a start/stop jack for a foot pedal, 5-pin MIDI ports, and MIDI In, Out and Thru over USB. The USB connection also carries sync, so a DAW can trigger individual sounds and switch songs and patterns.
