The FBQ800 V2 is a nine-band graphic equalizer covering one octave per fader: 63 to 500 Hz for the low range, 1, 2 and 4 kHz for the mids, and 8 and 16 kHz for the highs. Each fader boosts or cuts its band by up to 12 dB. A Low Cut filter removes unwanted low frequencies such as floor rumble, room resonance and electrical hum, which is useful when the system is used for speech.
Its FBQ feedback detection system lights an LED on the fader of the band that is approaching feedback. The user then lowers that fader until the LED goes out. This makes it easier to locate and reduce problem frequencies without a trained ear.
Levels are monitored on 6-digit LED input/output meters, with a level control for setting gain. The faders and switches are illuminated, and the signal path uses low-noise operational amplifiers. As part of the Mini Series, the unit can be stacked with other Mini Series components to build a small signal-processing setup.
