softPop SP2
Softpop SP2 is a portable semi-modular subtractive synthesizer with a digital sequencer and scale quantizer, made by Bastl Instruments with Casper Electronics. It suits experimental players who want sequenced melodies, noise, or an external-audio processor with a 37-point patchbay.

Softpop SP2 pairs a modular-style synth voice with a digital brain. The voice has a digital oscillator with several waveforms and waveshaping, a state variable filter (lowpass, bandpass, highpass) with a POP cross-modulation control, a cycling attack-decay envelope and a VCA that works in drone or envelope mode. A light orb sits on the panel.
The sequencer plays 8-step patterns of notes, gates and slides, with 8 patterns per bank and 8 banks. It adds 8 user-editable quantizer scales, 8 playback modes and 8 temporary performance FX such as ratchets and arps, and each of these can be chained. Firmware v1.3 adds direct step editing, gate recording and step pitch preview.
An external input with gain and saturation sends outside audio through the filter, VCA and overdrive, and an envelope follower can drive modulation. A 37-point Eurorack-compatible patchbay, analog sync input and MIDI input handle integration. Power comes from 5V over Micro USB or a 16-pin Eurorack connector.
