Microgranny Monolith is a monophonic granular sampler in a black PCB-material case, an updated version of the Microgranny 2.0. Samples are stored on a microSD card. Six sounds, each with its own full set of adjustments, can be saved together in one preset, and 60 presets are organised in 10 banks of six, saved as .txt files on the card. Samples can be played back from the card or recorded as 8-bit 22050 Hz WAV through the line input or the onboard microphone.
Sound shaping covers sample rate (tuned or free run), crush, start and end position with repeat, an instant loop function, grain size and shift speed (positive or negative), and amplitude envelope attack and release. Further functions include a hold button, copy and paste, and randomized and legato playback modes. A two-tier menu gives access to the edit parameters. A sample bank by Bogdan Raczynski and other artists is pre-installed.
A MIDI input responds to notes, CC messages and clock, so loops and grains can be synchronised, and a MIDI sidechain envelope restart is available. The unit is Arduino based and hackable. Power comes from a 9V battery or a 9V DC centre-positive supply, selected with a power switch. The model is listed as discontinued.
