Kastle Drum
Kastle Drum is a pocket-sized patchable drum synthesizer, a special edition of Bastl's Kastle mini modular synth. It generates algorithmic, glitchy percussion without buttons or a programmable sequencer, and suits beginners in modular synthesis as well as modular users wanting an extra drum voice.

Kastle Drum reuses the hardware of the Kastle mini modular synthesizer but is operated differently, as a rhythm box built around a dynamic acceleration envelope. The envelope produces varied, evolving rhythms from very little modulation. It offers 8 drum synthesis styles, a separate noise output for less tonal content, and controls for drum selection, decay time and pitch.
A voltage-controllable clock generator with square and triangle outputs drives a stepped voltage generator that can run in random, 8-step or 16-step loop mode. The clock can run on its own or be synchronised to an external analog clock, and the triangle LFO remains available for parameter modulation.
Two I/O CV ports can be routed to any patch point for connecting other gear, and the main output can drive headphones. Power comes from 3 AA batteries or 5V USB, chosen with a switch. The unit sounds slightly different on batteries (4.5V) than on USB (5V). The project is open source, with code and resources on GitHub. The model is marked as discontinued.
