Bestie

Bestie combines a compact stereo mixer with a saturator. Each of the five stereo channels has a level control with up to 20 dB of boost and a mute switch with a light indicator. The low-noise preamps are the same as in Bastl's Dude and add overdrive when pushed. Kept at lower levels the mixer stays clean, and heavier boosting makes the channels compete and distort.

Channel 3 is normalized to the output, so it works as a pre-routed feedback channel. Below the 12 o'clock position it adds distortion and gain. Beyond 0 dB it self-oscillates and produces deeper tones, and at maximum settings it gives tremolo-like effects. Plugging anything into the Channel 3 input makes it an ordinary input. This suits no-input mixing, and also experiments where drums or other sources interrupt the feedback tones.

All inputs and outputs use 3.5 mm jacks. Channels 1 and 5 each have two jacks, accepting dual mono, a single mono cable split to both sides, or a stereo cable. The headphone output has a loudness control and a pre/post mute switch for pre-listening. Power comes from USB-C or four AA batteries.
