AmbiCreator is a free software tool that converts the four diaphragm signals from two stacked Austrian Audio OC818 microphones into first-order Ambisonic B-format. It suits engineers producing VR, 360° and immersive room recordings.

AmbiCreator takes the four capsule signals captured by a pair of stacked OC818 microphones and encodes them as B-format: W (omnidirectional), X (front/back), Y (left/right) and Z (up/down). The result is a complete first-order Ambisonics sound field that can be rotated, decoded and rendered in an immersive production workflow.
After recording, the whole sound field can be turned horizontally by ±180° to change the perspective without moving a microphone. A Z Gain control sets how strongly the vertical dimension is represented, and the rotation can be automated so the perspective shifts during a performance.
Finished B-format output can be delivered in AmbiX or FuMa. The same two-OC818 setup also works with StereoCreator, so one recording can serve both flexible stereo and first-order Ambisonics. The software is available for macOS and Windows, with a separate manual offered for download.
