The ATH-A1000Z is a wired, closed-back dynamic headphone in the Art Monitor line. Each earcup uses a high-purity aluminium housing with a double-layer structure (Double Air Damping System) intended to give extended low-frequency response, while a rigid magnesium baffle is used to suppress unwanted vibration.
The 53 mm driver is hand-built in Japan and uses an integrated pure-iron yoke, an OFC-7N bobbin-wound voice coil, a diaphragm with an ultra-hard carbon coating and a top-mount PCB layout to keep airflow even. The frequency response reaches 43,000 Hz, so the model carries the High-Resolution Audio designation.
For comfort, the headphone has 3D-stitched low-resilience ear pads and a 3D wing support headband system. The 3.0 m cable has four conductors with separate left and right ground wires and enters from both earcups. It ends in a gold-plated 6.3 mm stereo plug with a 3.5 mm adapter. Replacement ear pads are sold separately as the HP-A2000Z.
