The ASP4816-SE is an in-line analogue console for tracking and mixing, designed by David Dearden. It has 16 discrete hybrid Class-A mic preamps with up to 60dB of gain, and 48 channel inputs. The long and short faders give separate record and monitor paths on one channel strip, so a mix can be built while tracking.
Each channel has a 4-band EQ with two parametric bands covering 40Hz to 20kHz, adjustable by -15dB to +15dB with a Q control, plus low and high shelving bands and an Air button. The EQ can be split across the short and long faders, so mic inputs and DAW returns can be equalised at the same time. The mix bus has a VCA compressor with adjustable ratio and threshold, auto-release and a gain reduction meter.
The console offers over 40 insert points, 8 sends and 8 groups on mixdown. The monitor section provides 4 stereo monitor outputs (main mix plus 3 stereo sources), 2 foldback outputs, mono summing, and talkback with foot-switch control. The unit connects directly to the mains with no external power supply, and a software bundle with Cubase LE and Cubasis LE for iOS is included.
