The Shogun Studio 2 combines multi-channel recording with two 7-inch, 2000-nit HDR touchscreens in a single 3RU rack unit. It captures two 4Kp60 channels or up to eight HDp60 sources in Apple ProRes, ProRes RAW and Avid DNx codecs, and can play clips back or play out directly from the unit using the touchscreen controls, including playlists built from clips recorded on an Atomos recorder or supplied from an edit system in supported formats.
Recording tools include pre-roll with an 8-second cache in HD or 2-3 seconds in 4K, multi-camera ISO recording, and switching of up to eight SDI camera inputs at up to 1080p60. Each bank of four inputs has its own switched output. The screens use zoned dynamic backlighting, and HDR tools for Log and RAW help with exposure, colour and white balance checks.
The chassis has a short rack depth and redundant dual power supplies. Rear connectivity is grouped per recorder channel, with 12G, 6G and 3G (single, dual, quad) and 1.5B SDI I/O, HDMI inputs and outputs, XLR audio I/O, Genlock, and LTC input with loop-through.
