The Shinobi 7 is an on-camera and on-set monitor with a touchscreen that shows 10+ stops of dynamic range from Log, PQ and HLG signals. It runs the AtomOS platform, with focus peaking, zoom, zebra, false color, frame guides, SMPTE safe area, waveform, RGB parade, vectorscope and an Analysis view that overlays scopes on the picture. It can also be used as a program or preview display for video switchers.
A built-in 3D LUT function lets users load up to eight custom LUTs from an SD card and send the result downstream. Anamorphic de-squeeze monitoring and vertical flip are included. The unit can cross-convert between 4K HDMI and 3G-SDI, for example downscaling 4K HDMI to 2K SDI output with a LUT applied. The screen is factory calibrated for Rec.709, and field calibration is possible with the free Atomos software, an optional USB-A or USB-C to serial cable and a Calibrite Display Pro HL or Plus HL.
Power comes from two battery slots that allow hot-swapping, or from a locking DC jack. An optional DC to DTAP cable allows use with V-lock batteries. The touchscreen can control iris, white balance, shutter angle and ND on supported cameras. The Z Cam E2 series is supported through the optional Atomos USB-C to serial cable, and the USB and RJ45 ports allow future updates.
