The A&ultima SP4000T is a digital audio player that uses four RAYTHEON JAN6418 vacuum tubes in a paired, differential layout, one pair for each channel. Three amplifier modes are available: Tube, Op-amp and a five-step Hybrid mode. In the tube modes the user can pick Triode, Ultra Linear or Pentode operation and set the tube current to one of three levels. The tubes are mounted on separate flexible PCBs with silicone damping and copper shield cans to limit microphonic noise.
The digital side uses two AK4499EX DACs, each with its own AK4191EQ modulator, keeping digital and analog processing separate. It plays PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD512, offers seven DAC filters, and includes Crossfeed, ReplayGain, ESA group-delay correction and Advanced DAR upsampling. A High Driving Mode places op-amps in parallel for extra drive. The Android-based system includes the company's Direct Path for bit-perfect streaming.
It connects by USB-C, 3.5mm unbalanced, 4.4mm balanced and optical output, with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and a BT Sink function. It has 256GB of internal storage plus a microSD slot, a 6-inch touch screen and a leather case in the box. Silver and Copper versions are listed.
