The AKRO2 is an in-ear earphone developed jointly by Astell&Kern and Final Audio Design. It has a single custom-made balanced armature driver, the same type of unit used in Final Audio Design's BA-SS earphones, mounted in a stainless steel housing.
Its tuning relies on Balancing Air Movement (BAM). An integrated air hole between the driver and the housing lets air reach the armature unit, which is meant to strengthen low-frequency response that balanced armature drivers are usually weaker at. Each unit is assembled by hand under a microscope.
The cable is detachable and made of oxygen-free copper (99.99% purity), so it can be replaced if needed. The earphones come in an Italian leather case lined with suede-like Chamude fabric. The case opens from the front, unfolds fully, and carries a metal plate with a unique serial number.
