The AK T8iE Mk II is the successor to the original AK T8iE, a Tesla in-ear developed jointly by Astell&Kern and beyerdynamic. It keeps the tuning of the earlier model but adds a redesigned voice-coil intended to improve reliability and keep distortion very low. Each voice-coil is checked and adjusted by hand under a digital microscope at 40x magnification, and the earphones are assembled by hand in Germany.
The cable is a silver-copper alloy design in a transparent, flexible, skin-friendly sleeve with an aramid fiber core for strength, replacing the copper cable of the first generation. The earpieces use gold-plated MMCX connectors, so the cables can be detached.
Two 1.3 m cables are supplied: one with a 3.5 mm 3-pole plug for unbalanced use and one with a 2.5 mm 4-pole plug for balanced output on compatible Astell&Kern players. A leather case is included for transport.
