The unit combines a dual-DAC digital section with a headphone amplifier that can run on op-amp, vacuum-tube or hybrid circuitry. Four gain levels and up to 15 Vrms balanced output are meant to cover sensitive in-ear monitors as well as high-impedance headphones. Seven selectable DAC filters, a crossfeed with adjustable shelf and mixer settings, and a tilting 4.1-inch touch screen are included.
Headphone outputs are 3.5 mm and 6.35 mm single-ended and 2.5 mm and 4.4 mm balanced. Line outputs are balanced mini XLR and single-ended RCA. Inputs include a 4.4 mm analog jack, coaxial, optical and USB Type-C, which works as a USB DAC with Windows and macOS computers. Playback goes up to 32-bit/768 kHz PCM and native DSD512, with MQA decoding in hardware.
Wireless connectivity covers dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX HD and LDAC, plus Roon Ready and AK Connect network playback. It has 256 GB of internal storage and a microSD slot, and the battery charges over USB-PD 2.0. A battery protection mode that stops charging at 85% is announced for a firmware update.
