The ACRO CA1000 is a battery-powered headphone amplifier that also works as a digital audio player. It uses four ESS ES9068AS DACs and decodes PCM up to 32-bit/384kHz and native DSD up to DSD512. Four gain settings let it drive both sensitive earphones and high-impedance headphones, with balanced output reaching 15Vrms in the highest setting.
Headphone outputs cover 3.5mm and 6.35mm unbalanced plus 2.5mm and 4.4mm balanced, each isolated by separate relays. Line-level RCA, coaxial, optical and USB-C connections allow it to be used as part of a home system. Software features include crossfeed with adjustable shelf and mixer settings, ReplayGain, MQA rendering, Bluetooth transmit and receive (BT Sink), and wireless file transfer via AK File Drop. The unit is Roon Ready.
The aluminium body houses a 4.1-inch touchscreen that tilts up to 60 degrees. Internal storage is 256GB, expandable with a microSD card. Charging uses USB-PD 2.0, and playback time is around 10.5 hours under the stated test conditions.
