The Solo neo combines a CD player, DAB/FM tuner, network audio client and stereo amplifier in one metal-cased unit. The CD section reads CD-R and CD-RW discs and CD text, and uses a low-jitter clock with a 24-bit Wolfson DAC. The network player plays WAV, MP3, AAC, WMA and FLAC files from computers and NAS drives on the local network, and can reach internet radio stations when the network is online.
The built-in amplifier is rated at 75W RMS into 4 ohms. It uses twin toroidal transformers, nine independently regulated supplies and passive fanless cooling. The preamp section has five line-level inputs, a record output, a preamp output for external power amplifiers, a second-room output with separate volume control, and bass and treble controls. A speaker bass equalisation setting is provided for placing Arcam Muso speakers.
Connectivity includes wired 10/100 Ethernet, a wireless receiver (802.11b/g) with antenna, a USB socket for memory sticks or hard drives, and a front mini jack for portable players. An RS232 port handles control, software updates and iPod playback via the optional irDock. Infrared input and output jacks and a 12V trigger output support custom installation. The model is listed as discontinued.
