rPlay

The rPlay is a small network streamer from Arcam's rSeries. It takes music from DTS Play-Fi, Apple AirPlay 2 and UPnP sources, and also plays internet radio and network streaming services, so it can be added to almost any hi-fi or AV setup. Control is through the free DTS Play-Fi app for iOS and Android. Playback resolution goes up to 24-bit / 192 kHz.

The analogue stage is built around a TI PCM5102 DAC. The board has four layers, a ground plane laid out to limit interference, and several individually regulated low-noise power supplies. There are two analogue outputs: a fixed line-level output, and a variable output that uses the same volume control as Arcam's A49 amplifier. A digital SPDIF output can feed an AV receiver. The case is cast aluminium.

For networking, the unit has Wi-Fi supporting 802.11 b/g/n and a wired Ethernet (RJ45) port for a more stable connection. It runs from a 12 V DC supply. The maker offers a manual, FAQ, flier, MCU software and web browser setup guide as downloads.
