The WZ4 12:2 is a compact analogue console in the MixWizard4 series. It provides eight mic/line channels with balanced XLR/TRS inputs and two dual stereo channels, intended for stereo playback sources, keyboards and other stereo instruments. The preamp design was created by analogue designer Mike Griffin and adapted from the maker's large-format analogue consoles, with low noise, low distortion, a smooth gain law and generous headroom.
Six auxiliary sends are available, each with its own master level control and impedance-balanced TRS output. Auxes 1-2 are pre-fade for monitors, auxes 3-4 are switchable between pre and post-fade for monitors, FX or extra feeds, and auxes 5-6 are post-fade for FX or an aux-fed sub. The pre/post behaviour can be changed with internal jumpers. A monitoring system allows aux outputs to be heard in mono or as stereo pairs.
Two stereo digital FX engines offer 20 studio-quality presets, controlled via a 7-segment LED display, tap tempo and an encoder for parameter adjustment. The Quick Change Connectors system lets the connector panel be repositioned for desktop, rack or flightcase use, and removable plastic side trims reveal integral rack ears.
