Allen & Heath Qu-24

The Qu-24 gives every mono input its own fader, which keeps the number of fader layers low. A colour touchscreen with a dedicated rotary encoder provides access to meters, RTA, FX racks, channel processing, USB audio, scenes and setup, while a row of single-function controls (the SuperStrip) handles gain, high-pass filter, 4-band parametric EQ, gate, compressor, graphic EQ and pan.

Audio is handled by 24 digitally controlled AnalogiQ preamps with a padless 1 dB-step gain stage, feeding 24-bit converters. Four stereo RackFX engines supply reverbs, delays, modulation and similar effects, returned on dedicated FX return channels that each have a 4-band parametric EQ. An automatic microphone mixer can handle up to 16 sources, which is useful for conferences and panel discussions.

The mixer has a built-in USB audio interface (32 x 30) for recording to and playing back from a computer, plus MIDI control over USB and network for DAW control. A multitrack USB recorder writes to a USB drive, and the dSNAKE port allows connection of AB168, AR2412 or AR84 remote expanders. It is compatible with the ME personal mixing system, and the fanless chassis is made of cold-rolled steel.
