The Classic Pencil MK3 is a tall floorstanding loudspeaker built around two 7.5-inch HexaCone woofers and one X-ART tweeter, a design based on the Air Motion Transformer principle. The crossover points are 150 Hz and 2400 Hz, and the cabinet is offered in black glossy, cherry and walnut finishes.
Two versions exist. The active version carries its own amplification: a PWM amplifier for each woofer (200 W RMS / 300 W music) and an A/B amplifier for the tweeter (50 W RMS / 100 W music), with a rear connection panel and a 10 kOhm input impedance. The passive version has a 4 Ohm impedance, an efficiency of at least 89 dB/W/m and is fitted with a bi-wiring terminal for use with a separate amplifier.
Both versions are supplied with a front cover, spikes, plates and a hex key. The active version covers 32 Hz to 50 kHz and the passive version 35 Hz to 50 kHz. Warranty is 5 years for the active version and 10 years for the passive one.
