The A77X is an active monitor from ADAM Audio's AX-Series, built horizontally with two 7-inch woofers and one X-ART folded-diaphragm tweeter. Both woofers work together from 38 Hz; at 400 Hz one woofer fades out and the other carries the midrange up to 3 kHz, which avoids interference and phase cancellation in the midrange. Crossover points are 400 Hz and 3 kHz.
Three built-in amplifiers drive the speaker: PWM amplifiers for the woofers and an A/B amplifier for the tweeter, for a combined 250 W RMS (375 W music power). Front bass reflex ports allow placement close to walls. The front panel carries the volume control and power switch, while room adaptation is done with tweeter gain and low and high shelf filters, all continuously adjustable.
Signal comes in on analog XLR and RCA inputs, so both balanced and unbalanced sources can be connected. The woofer cones use carbon, Rohacell and glass fibre. The monitor is not magnetically shielded.
